Jenny Ouellet

Jenny Ouellet is a Montreal-based painter. After a career in IT solution architecture and automation, she now devotes herself fully to her artistic practice. Her background, enriched by studies in sculpture at Concordia University, informs an approach in which structural rigor and freedom of gesture coexist.

Her practice explores the tensions between structure and chaos, focusing on systems under pressure—environmental, social, and informational. Her research initially centered on human experience before turning toward the systems that shape our societies. The series Débordement bleu (Blue Overflow) and Déclin rouge (Red Decline) address climate disruption through floods and wildfires. With Interférence (Interference), she explores the effects of information overload on the ways we perceive and interpret the contemporary world.

Through the layering of forms, binary sequences, textual fragments, and painted strata, she constructs spaces in which information fragments and multiplies, producing an unstable equilibrium where noise ultimately overwhelms the signal.

Her work has been exhibited in Canada, France, and the United Kingdom, notably at the Maison de la culture Mercier, Domaine Trinity, and the 7th London Art Biennale. The recipient of several distinctions throughout her career, she continues to develop a painting practice centered on systems in states of imbalance and the fragility that runs through them.
