Geneviève Leblanc

Geneviève LeBlanc is a visual artist based in Montreal. Her artworks serve as the raw material from which her patterns emerge. At the heart of her approach, photography and printmaking intertwine: while most of her photos stand on their own, others are reinterpreted into images that she laser-engraves onto wood. Some of these engravings become unique pieces, while others serve as printing matrices. She also uses plants to create her prints. Serving as a true anchor in the real world, her practice leads her to collect the extraordinary within the ordinary of her days. The plants and photos she gathers form a journal of her journeys. A scent, the emotions she felt, the biting cold of that day are, for her, so many elements floating around these representations of a moment. Recognized by her peers, her work is part of the permanent collections of Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) and L'Artothèque.
